Dull Hair

Hello Beauties,

Today I want to discuss the cause of dull, lack-luster hair and what we can do about it.

Let me introduce you to a term that’s probably new to you – buckling. Buckling, where hair is concerned, is when the cuticle of your hair gets loose and lifts. When buckling, or twisting of the hair shaft occurs, hair frequently splits along the length. So what causes buckling? Buckling can happen when heat styling wet or damp hair, which causes the water in the hair to explode out in little moisture bursts. This causes a buckling and bubbling effect on the hair cuticle along the entire length of your hair, and has the appearance of a blister when you look at it closely. However, in 60% of women, buckling is caused by combing or brushing hair that is too dry.

Here’s what we can do to address buckling. It is important to keep your hair moisturized daily and to use hydrating shampoos and conditioners each time you wash. Creme of Nature has excellent products for hydrating and moisturizing the hair. Some of my favorites are from the Argan Oil line. First, shampoo with the Argan Oil Moisture & Shine Shampoo. Its sulfate-free formula will hydrate your hair and add brilliant shine. Then follow with the Argan Oil Intensive Conditioning Treatment.
